The documentary "RePresente - the future is ours" portraits the alternatives of economies and human relations proposed by Argentinians social movements from the base, contesting neoliberal and neo-colonial politics within a crisis-ridden and exploitative system.
RePresente is a documentary that seeks to open a space for voices, explanations, anecdotes but also images and dynamics of a world that does not stop to inspire us - a world that provides us with new inputs for debate, criticism and creation.
It also points out the structural reasons for the severe situation in Argentina after four years of explicit neoliberalism and examines the influence of the International Monetary Fund and the G20 in the region. At the same time, it talks about the hope for a better future, about alternatives generated by movements that act in the field of feminism, self-managed and cooperative economies as well as ecological and community-supported agriculture.
The protagonists of this story are members of social movements and organisations who carried out the struggles during the last years and keep on building viable alternatives to the crisis-ridden system on a daily basis.
RePresente is the result of a one-year transatlantic collaboration between the German and Argentinean alternative media collectives Compos, Graswurzel.tv of Moving Media e.V., Emergentes and Proyecto Coopar. This cooperation has its origins in the joint collective coverage of the alternative G20 summit in Buenos Aires at the end of 2018. It is this diverse collaboration that makes the movie "RePresente" a project of dedication and affection that proves the power and creativity collective work creates.
